CEFR Assessment
One adaptive assessment covering all four skills, returning a CEFR level per skill — built for placement days, end-of-term progression and exit requirements.
The Common European Framework of Reference describes language ability in six levels, from A1 to C2. Because IELTS bands, HSK levels and TOEFL scores all map onto it, CEFR is the one scale that lets you compare a learner tested one way against a learner tested another — and the one most placement and exit policies are written in.
Understands and uses familiar everyday expressions and very simple phrases.
Handles routine tasks and describes background, immediate environment and needs.
Copes with travel, work and study situations, and explains opinions and plans.
Follows complex text and interacts with fluency — the usual bar for university entry.
Uses language flexibly for academic and professional purposes with little searching.
Understands virtually everything read or heard and expresses shades of meaning precisely.
Difficulty adjusts to the answers given, so one sitting places a mixed cohort without anyone spending an hour on questions far above or below them.
Graded recordings across accents, from short exchanges to extended talks.
20–25 min
Adaptive passages that lengthen and complicate as the candidate succeeds.
25–30 min
Two tasks, AI-graded against the CEFR descriptors for range and coherence.
25–30 min
Recorded responses scored for fluency, pronunciation, range and accuracy.
10–15 min
Sort a new intake into the right class in one sitting, instead of a week of teacher interviews.
Re-test at the end of a term and show each learner — and each funder — the movement between levels.
Evidence that graduates leave at B2 or C1, in the format accreditation bodies already recognise.
Reporting in CEFR means a placement result, a term-end retest and an exit certificate all speak the same language — to teachers, to learners, and to whoever audits the programme.
Illustrative only. Per-skill levels are what make the difference between "this learner is B2" and "this learner needs writing support."
We'll configure CEFR placement for your cohort sizes and show you the reporting before you commit.
